This article examines whether Colossians 1:15–17 presents the Son as the first created creature or as the supreme Lord over creation. By evaluating the Greek term prōtotokos (“firstborn”), the explanatory function of verse 16 (hoti), and the grammatical scope of “all things” (ta panta), the author demonstrates that Paul establishes a causal, purposive, and sustaining relationship between Christ and the created order. The analysis shows that reading “all other things” into the text requires an unstated premise not found in Paul’s logic, concluding that the passage presents the Son as standing prior to and over creation rather than within it.
